When Phase One announced its new XF camera system back in June, the goal was to unleash a new high-tech camera that can stay relevant long into the digital age. The company today announced the first firmware update that helps to fulfill that promise. It’s a feature update that brings a number of exciting new features to the XF, including one called Seismographic Vibration Delay.
Seismographic Vibration Delay allows the camera to capture a photo that has minimal blue from camera shake. After turning “Vibration Detect” to “Auto,” the camera will use the Seismographic Sensor in the camera to wait until the camera is absolutely still before capturing an exposure.
A new Hyperfocal Tool lets you choose the “sweet spot” for hyperfocal focus for each of your lenses (after calibrating and saving those spots using Capture One PRO). This lets you select those points at a moments notice for maximum hyperfocal focus.
There’s also a new waist level focus indicator on the touchscreen, a BullsEye Level tool that uses the accelerometer to help you level your camera, a new histogram for reviewing your exposures, and general stability and bug fixes.
Here’s a quick video overview of some of the new features in the update (a more complete rundown can be found here):
You can download the Feature Update #1 firmware update today over on the Phase One website.
