Back in July of 1956, Kodak printed a helpful photography guide for Disneyland visitors. The pamphlet was titled: “Kodak Camera Tour of Disneyland” and featured colorful illustrations, technical camera tips, and sample photos.
The blog Vintage Disneyland Tickets got its hands on one of the guides and scanned it to show us what the advice was back then.

Kodak had recommendations for aperture and shutter speed when using Kodak film in different areas of the park. The advice was further separated into still photography and motion picture settings, as well as which settings to use during the day and when it’s dark at night.

Advice for Nailing Exposure
Two pages in the pamphlet were also dedicated to general tips for achieving proper exposure in photos during the day and at night. Kodak wrote that photographers familiar with judging lighting conditions in the Southwest would probably feel right at home in Disneyland, while people visiting from the northern half of the US could be tricked by the light.
If you’re interested in picking up one of these vintage Disneyland photography guides for yourself, you can sometimes find them for sale on ebay for about $20 to $70.
