These Are the Most Instagrammed Locations in Each US State

findings

Want to know the most popular photo spot among Instagrammers in each state in the US? The travel Budsbud recently decided to do some serious digging to find out. The map above shows the findings. The markers show where the most popular spot is found, and the state is color coded by location type.

The researchers searched Instagram using the names of popular tourist destinations, as listed by TripAdvisor. The locations in each state that produced the most hashtags were chosen as the winners for that state.

The most common type among the 50 hot spots was found to be parks and geographic landmarks. Second most? Wineries. Here’s a breakdown by type:

If you want to know exactly what the most popular location is for each state, this comprehensive chart can serve as a bucket list of places to visit and photograph:

As a side note, these are the exact locations that the “Camera Restricta” concept camera would prevent you from photographing.

Kodak’s Tips for Photographing Disneyland… in 1956

kodakcameratour

Back in July of 1956, Kodak printed a helpful photography guide for Disneyland visitors. The pamphlet was titled: “Kodak Camera Tour of Disneyland” and featured colorful illustrations, technical camera tips, and sample photos.

The blog Vintage Disneyland Tickets got its hands on one of the guides and scanned it to show us what the advice was back then.

Kodak had recommendations for aperture and shutter speed when using Kodak film in different areas of the park. The advice was further separated into still photography and motion picture settings, as well as which settings to use during the day and when it’s dark at night.

Advice for Nailing Exposure

Two pages in the pamphlet were also dedicated to general tips for achieving proper exposure in photos during the day and at night. Kodak wrote that photographers familiar with judging lighting conditions in the Southwest would probably feel right at home in Disneyland, while people visiting from the northern half of the US could be tricked by the light.

If you’re interested in picking up one of these vintage Disneyland photography guides for yourself, you can sometimes find them for sale on ebay for about $20 to $70.
