Elinchom have just announced the Litemotiv, a new extension to their lineup of softboxes. The two new modifiers are made up of sixteen sides and come in two distinct sizes. According to the company, theses monster softboxes help to create “close to perfect catchlights.”
The Litemotiv series is built using ‘exclusive fabric’ that Elinchrom notes help achieve an exceptional quality of light. Sixteen anodized rods keep the unit together, and they have been color coded to help speed up assembly time. No matter what you shoot with, Broncolor, Profoto, and Rowens brackets are all available.
Without a diffuser, the Litemotiv can be used as a gigantic beauty dish. Otherwise, throw on the double diffusion panels to create an incredibly soft lighting effect. The interior of the diffuser includes a circular panel to avoid hot spots from forming on your subjects.
If you’re interested, the Litemotiv series is currently available in both 48-inch and 75-inch sizes. The smaller of the two units can be picked up for $510 while the larger unit can be found for a whopping $1300. The softboxes are both quite large, so, luckily, they both include free carrying bags.
