Earlier this week, reports that the old Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM lens had been discontinued sparked a lot of speculation that Sigma was preparing to release an Art version of the popular focal length. Now, one report is confirming this speculation.
The confirmation comes from our friends at Photo Rumors, who did not reveal their source but write that they, “can now confirm that a new Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art lens is currently being tested in the field.”
The new Art lens, claims Sigma, will be officially announced soon, possibly at Photokina in September.
Sigma’s Art series currently consists of several much-loved pieces of prime glass, including a 20mm, a 35mm, and a 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM. An 85mm f/1.4 would fit very comfortably into the lineup.
